Submissions
All submissions should be sent to uea@bu.edu. We ask that authors submit their paper in pdf format, and provide to us their finalized Stata Do-file. Further consideration will be given to submitters who submit with a professor’s approval. Additionally, we encourage prospective submitters to visit the Economics Writing Tutors prior to submitting their work (access the WCOnline schedule here).

Headings and Subheadings: Use a clear and consistent hierarchy of headings and subheadings to organize the manuscript.
Figures and Tables: Clearly label all figures and tables with descriptive titles and ensure they are appropriately numbered and cited in the text.

Authors are expected to respond promptly to reviewers’ comments and suggestions.
Please note that each submitter is limited to submitting one paper per edition for consideration.
Editor Applications
We are currently seeking Layout Editors for our upcoming issue. A Layout Editor’s primary responsibility is to ensure the highest quality visual presentation of the journal. This includes designing any visual elements of the journal, including font, colors, images, etc., in an aesthetically pleasing manner, as well as compiling Stata Do-files on our LaTeX mastersheet. They must work collaboratively with the Editor-In-Chief, senior editors, and writers to ensure the simplest transition necessary to prepare written articles for publication. The application form can be found here. Please complete and submit your application by February 4th.”
History
The Boston University Undergraduate Economics Journal was conceptualized and founded by UEA eboard members Faisal Ahmed '24, Varshitha Sathish Kumar '24, Annie Chan '25, Aini Zhou '26, and Tadeáš Nanjo '25 in the spring semester of 2024 under the invaluable guidance of Drs. Todd Idson and Stacey Gelsheimer (pictured above).
Its inaugural edition was overseen by Editor-in-Chief Kiernan Gallaher '25 and Copy-Editor Aeddon Burns '24, with the assistance of editors Madison Roost '25, Ellie Wang '26, Ajay Raman '26, Rutuja Karate '24, and Arnav Swamy '27 (pictured below), without whom the journal would not have become a reality.
At present, it is headed by Editor-in-Chief Kiernan Gallaher and Copy-Editor Madison Roost.

A letter from Faisal Ahmed '24 on the inaugural edition of the BUUEJ:
The Undergraduate Economics Association (UEA) strives to proliferate engagement in the discipline of economics. In doing so, we seek to inspire individuals to be more thoughtful decision makers. The discipline foundation is rooted in human behavior, but also mathematics. By strict application of statistics, we infer truths regarding human behavior to guide political decision making. Generally, because of the rigor of the discipline's analysis, we find this practice most purely exercised by our graduate students. Though knowledge is democratic and accessible to all those who commit themselves to its study. The specific aim of our involvement in the journal is to showcase the efforts of students who've committed themselves to the discipline's fundamental practices; applying rigorous mathematical tools to uncover consequential insights.
We're incredibly proud of the work of all the individuals involved, especially in creating this inaugural issue. Having ideas is nice, but turning those ideas into reality takes high levels of coordinated effort from a variety of individuals. The BUUEJ team exemplifies this ability, and our undergraduate community is incredibly indebted to their efforts. No other team will be known as the founding members of the journal, and we hope that's adequate distinction. Further, I am personally grateful to this team for realizing this project; words fail in capturing that sincerity.
Much love, Faisal
